The palette is an integral part of multieditor: it contains commands, most of which are used for creating elements. Some commands perform other actions: importing data from a file, adding description to elements, etc. There are also toggle buttons, which show the state of elements and allow changing this state.
Commands are separated into groups. Group headings and text on buttons can be hidden, if the palette content cannot fit across the width of the window.

Displaying commands

The set of available commands depends on selected or focused elements in the editor.
If only one element is selected, then all commands applicable to this element are displayed in the palette. If several elements are selected, then commands that are applicable to all selected elements at once are displayed. If there are no selected elements or commands applicable to selected elements, then commands applicable to a focused element are displayed.
Selected text doesn’t affect the set of available commands in the palette.
